Why only lowercase letters and numbers?

Because they are much quicker to type with a remote or controller. On an on-screen keyboard, capitals and symbols sit behind an extra button. So Wachtwoordje uses lowercase letters with numbers at the end and leaves out look-alike characters such as l and 1.

Is a password like this strong enough?

Yes, because of its length. It is 16 characters by default, which more than makes up for the smaller character set. Every character is random, so there is no word or pattern in it. For an account with payment details, feel free to make it longer.

Why is it shown in groups of four?

So it is easy to copy from your phone to the screen: you remember four characters at a time. The groups are only for reading. The password itself has no spaces.
